How do I monitor Pramati Web Server?

This chapter describes how to monitor Pramati Web Server using the Console. You can monitor information regarding the running Default Server and virtual hosts, if any.

On the Console, select Monitor > Web Server in the Explore panel. This provides the following information in the display panel.

Table 1: Details for the Web Server

FieldDescription
NameThe domain name by which you want to set up the virtual host. DNS should be able to resolve this Host Name entry.
Document RootThe Document Root location from where the Server serves the requested files as *.html, *.gif, *.jsp. This is different from the default doc root of the Server, which is <install_dir>\server\nodes\<node_name>\archives\public_html
HitsThe number of hits on the Server.
SessionsThe number of sessions running on the Server.
ErrorsThe number of errors logged.
StatisticsClicking Statistics displays details about the start time of the application, the traffic, the sessions, the types, and number of errors.
GraphClicking Graph displays a graphical representation of the report.

How do I monitor Web Server Statistics?

To monitor Web Server related statistics, click Statistics against the desired Server. You can also click the Server name under the Name column to view the following details:

Table 2: Details for Web Server statistics

FieldsOptionsDescription
Traffic-Displays the number of hits for different applications.
-ApplicationRefers to the application name.
-Page RequestsRefers to the number of requests made.
-SessionsRefers to the total number of sessions of an applications.
-Graph (indicated by the graph icon)Clicking on the graph on the right hand side of this row, displays the graphical representation of data collected for the number of hits made on an application over a period of time.
Errors-Displays the errors that were prompted.
-TotalRefers to the total number of errors.
-Types and HitsRefers to the code assigned for every response and the count of the responses received.
-Graph (indicated by the graph icon)Clicking on the graph displays the graphical representation of data collected for the number of errors faced over a period of time.
Cache-Displays the details about the application cache.
-Rule TypeThis represents the types of rules: cache, avoid-cache, or application-invalidation-rule. Cache-rule is responsible for caching the content and hence most of the statistics in this table makes sense for cache-rule only.
-Rule NameRefers to the name of the rule.
-Rule URIURI here refers to the pattern for which the content is cached for this rule.
-Cache Size (kb)Refers to the current cache size in kilobytes.
-Pages in CacheRefers to the number of pages currently in the cache.
-Total Requests on URIRefers to the number of request which were parsed to check whether or not they satisfy this rule.
-Rule HitsRefers to the number of requests which satisfied the rule.
-Cache HitsRefers to the number of times the response was provided from the cache.
-Hit Ratio (%)Refers to the ratio of cache versus rule hits.
-Avg Time on Hit (ms)Refers to the average time taken when the response was given from the cache. This is usually negligible.
-Avg Time on Miss (ms)Refers to the average time taken when the response was not given from the cache but was actually generated by the Web Server.
-No of InvalidationsRefers to the total number of invalidations - the number of times pages are removed from the cache.
-Graph (indicated by the graph icon)Use this to monitor graphs related to the Web Server.
Application cache rules-Displays the cache rules defined for the applications deployed on the virtual host.

How do I monitor Web Server Graphs?

To see a graphical representation of the Web Server related statistics, click Graph for the required Server on the main page. This displays graphs plotted against the statistics related to:

These graphs can be viewed on a yearly, monthly, weekly, daily, or current basis.

How do I read graphs for Traffic on Virtual Host?

The traffic related graph makes use of the values collected for the number of hits made against the time duration of the started Server.

How do I read graphs for Active Sessions on Virtual Host?

The graph related to the total active sessions makes use of the values collected for the active sessions against the time duration of the started Server.

How do I read graphs for Errors on Virtual Host?

The graph related to errors makes use of the values collected for the number of errors that occurred over a time duration.

How do I read graphs for Cache Hit Ratio?

The graph related to the cache hit ratio makes use of the values collected for the number of hits against the time duration of the started Server.
